Alastair H. Ross
The late Alastair Henry Ross (1923-2002), a native Calgarian, was an early example of a potent professional combination as both an engineer (University of Alberta, 1945) and MBA (Harvard, 1948). On top of holding prominent posts at the helms of Hawke Drilling, Western Decalta Petroleum, Pembina Pipeline, Pacific Enterprises Oil, Petrorep and his own Allaro Resources, he held industry-wide leadership roles.
Among them he served as president of the Independent Petroleum Association of Canada (now part of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers), chairman of the Canadian Energy Research Institute and chairman of the Calgary Research & Development Authority (now Calgary Technologies Inc.), which has named its centre on the University of Calgary campus the Alastair Ross Building. |
